Volvo 240 Battery latest.

Well the battery has had a very good test! Yesterday morning I needed to be at my daughters house fairly early & back indoors before Elaine left for work. So 0715 ish out I went into a balmy -6 degrees. De-ice Tank, then fire up. Started first time no hesitation. Drive to daughters, switch off. Load up & re-start Tank. Well, Tank had other ideas, he was going no-where. Cranking like a gooden, but no start!

'Tank just does'nt do that' I thought to myself. Crank him over again, spins strongly, no start! Up with the bonnet, quick scan around and all appears as it should. So I try to start again, engine cranks & cranks, but no start! So I begin stirring the old grey-matter. Is the fuel pump buzzing? Open passenger door switch ignition on, no buzz what so ever. Ah, fuse 6 (fuel pump fuse) a common fail when using inferior plastic fuses is that they cannot cope with the heat as they age, and so melt, I recalled reading. Open the fuse box & yep indeed the fuse had melted. I whipped it out, had a quick clean up & slipped in a replacement. Then we're off, phew!

So I now have a set of Volvo ceramic fuses on order! Plus, I have confirmed that there is some time left in the old battery for sure!
