Latest News

A quiet time with the cars really. 240 has had a bit of a noisy bearing in the alternator for some time now. I helped a friend clearing his land a few weeks ago. He has a lot of various spares for 240's and as I left he gave me a second hand alternator! Bargain. It is still in my boot mind!
Elaine came home the other week in the 850. I noticed a little trail of liquid as she reversed into park. The culprit ( having initially thought water pump) was simply the expansion chamber cap had split. Looking this up revealed that grey caps are notorious for doing this and were replaced with a better design identifiable by the green colour. A trip to the scrappy and one green one was found and a couple of 'greys' as back up!
Bad news was that whilst cleaning up I found a layer of grease on both inner wheel arch liners!
This, I tracked to be from the CV joints. Both boots have split. Just age related perishing.
I have new ones ready to go.......
The 850 is, as I type on the Ferry to Plymouth. Apparently 'he' purred along the 150 miles this morning . CV boots to be fitted upon return.
PS: Zeb's trip to UK via Calais went well. A thousand miles in 5 days towing the van. He ran like clockwork!
